PDFToWord turns a PDF back into a Word document you can actually edit. Not a picture of the page pasted into a file - real paragraphs, real headings, real bullet lists, with the pictures still in the right places.
Everything happens on your own computer. No account, no upload, no waiting for a server to hand your contract back. Drop a file in and the .docx appears next to it.
What it does
- Real paragraphs, not one line at a time - wrapped lines are joined back into the sentences they came from, and a word broken across a line break is put back together.
- Headings stay headings - the app reads the actual type size and weight out of the PDF, so a 14pt bold section title becomes a Word heading you can navigate and restyle.
- Bullets, indents and alignment survive - bulleted lists come out as Word lists, centred titles stay centred, and a date at the right margin stays on the right.
- Tables come back as tables - rows and columns on the page are rebuilt as a real Word table you can put the cursor in and edit, not a run of loose lines you have to line up again.
- Pictures come with it - photographs, charts and logos are lifted off the page at the size they were printed and placed back where they sat.
- Pick the pages you want - type 1-4, 9 and get just those, out of a document of any length.
- Repeated headers and footers left out - the line printed at the top of every page does not become forty paragraphs in your document.
- Whole folders at a time - drop in fifty PDFs and they convert together, each one saved next to the original.
- Combine them afterwards - bind the finished documents into one Word file, in the order you dropped them, each starting on a new page.
How it works
Drag your PDFs onto the window, or click to choose them. Each one appears as a row with a preview of its first page, and conversion starts on its own - there is no button to press. When a row finishes it tells you how many words and pictures came through, and gives you Open and a button to show the file in its folder right there.
If the layout is unusual - two columns, a form - turn off "Join wrapped lines into paragraphs" and every line comes through on its own instead. Your original PDF is never touched or moved.
Good to know
A scanned PDF is a photograph of a page, not text, so there is nothing in it to convert - PDFToWord will say so rather than hand you an empty file, and offers to open it in ScanToDocx, which reads scanned pages. A PDF that needs a password to open has to be unlocked first.
