FolderRoast gives your folders a colour and a symbol, so you can find the one you want without reading a single label. On macOS and Windows.
Pick folders, pick an icon, hit Apply. Nothing is uploaded, nothing runs in the background, and every folder can go back to its plain system look with one click.
Highlights
- 125 Icons, One Family - Design, media, AI and dev, data, finance, games, work and life. All drawn on the same grid with the same stroke, so a shelf of them looks deliberate instead of like clip art.
- Sixteen Colours - Every icon comes in sixteen tints, from graphite to sky to coral. That is 2000 folder icons out of one library.
- Drag and Drop - Drop folders straight onto the window, or pick them with the file dialog. Selected folders stack up as chips you can remove one at a time.
- Batch Apply - Style a whole project tree in one pass instead of folder by folder.
- Always Reversible - "Reset to default" puts the stock system folder back. FolderRoast never touches what is inside a folder.
- A List of What You Styled - Every folder you have restyled is remembered, so you can jump to it in Finder, reset it, or notice that it has moved.
- macOS and Windows - The same library on both, each written the way its file manager expects, and the icon you preview is pixel-for-pixel the one Finder or Explorer shows.
How it works
- Drop one or more folders onto the window, or click "Choose folders…".
- Pick a colour, then pick an icon from the library. The bar at the bottom shows exactly what will be applied.
- Hit Apply. Finder or Explorer updates immediately. Changed your mind? Hit "Reset to default".
Perfect for
- Anyone whose Desktop is thirty identical blue folders.
- Designers, editors and developers who want project folders to read at a glance.
- Anyone who has tried this with screenshots and Get Info and given up.
