HabitTamp

Track habits on a dot grid, one dot per day

Updated August 2026 · v1.6.0

Screenshots

HabitTamp turns the habits you keep meaning to keep into something you can actually see. Every habit is a row. Every day is a dot. Click the dot, the day is done, and the row fills in behind you until missing one feels like breaking something.

No account, no sync, no notifications nagging you at 8pm. Your history lives in a single file on your own computer, and you can take a copy of it whenever you like.

Highlights

  1. A month at a glance - one row per habit, one dot per day, today marked clearly. Seven habits or fifteen, the grid stays readable.
  2. Catch up on the days you missed - forgot to tick Tuesday? Click Tuesday's dot. Any past day is one click away, so a busy week never costs you your record.
  3. Streaks that do not punish you at breakfast - a run that ended yesterday is still your streak until yesterday is over, so opening the app in the morning never tells you that you failed.
  4. The whole year on one screen - switch to the year view and twelve months of effort become a single picture. Pick one habit to see just its story, in its own colour.
  5. Numbers that mean something - current streak, longest streak, completion rate and the last thirty days, for one habit or all of them at once.
  6. Make each habit yours - nine colours and an optional icon per habit, dragged into whatever order you think about them in.
  7. Your history is yours - export everything to a plain JSON file and import it back on another machine, either replacing what is there or folding the two together.
  8. Light and dark, done properly - follows your system appearance out of the box, with a one-click switch when you want to override it.

How it works

Open the app, add a habit, give it a colour. That is the whole setup. From then on the grid is the app: click a dot when you do the thing, click it again if you clicked it by mistake.

Days you have not reached yet are drawn but not clickable, so the grid always shows you the shape of the month without pretending you can tick tomorrow. Pick a habit in the sidebar to zoom into it on its own, or stay on All habits to see everything you are carrying at once.

Perfect for

  1. Anyone who has started a habit app before and quit because it asked for a login
  2. People building a routine - reading, exercise, practice, water, an early night
  3. Anyone recovering a habit after a bad month, who needs to fill in the days they missed
  4. Bullet-journal and habit-tracker people who want the grid without the paper
  5. Anyone who would rather keep their own data than hand a year of personal routines to a server
