Round-trips real Word files

Formatting, tables and images survive open-edit-save, which is the only test that matters here. Very heavy documents with tracked changes from Word still need a careful look before sending back.

Familiar without being a clone

Anyone who has used Word is productive in a minute. The ribbon is slimmer, so a few power features live in menus rather than on the toolbar.

Offline by default

Nothing is uploaded, so drafts stay on your disk. That also means no built-in co-editing - collaboration is send-a-file, as it used to be.

Files round-trip cleanly

Formulas and formats come back out of Excel the way they went in, including charts. Very large workbooks take a beat to open the first time.

The ribbon has what you reach for

Pivot tables, conditional formatting and data validation are present, not stubs. Macros are not supported - a VBA-heavy workbook stays with Excel.

CSV handling is sane

Delimiters and encodings are detected rather than guessed at, which saves the usual import dance. A preview before import would still be nice for messy exports.

Real .pptx in and out

Decks open with their layouts, themes and charts intact and go back to PowerPoint the same way. Animation-heavy decks are the ones to check before you present from someone else's file.

Editing is visual, not a form

Shapes, tables and charts are manipulated on the slide as you expect, rather than through side panels. Master-slide editing is thinner than in PowerPoint.

Consistent with its siblings

If you already use DocCafe or SheetCafe, nothing here needs relearning - same shell, same speed, same offline promise. There is no presenter-notes view on a second display yet.

Editing text in place actually works

Fixing a wrong date or a misspelled name inside an existing PDF is the thing other viewers make you re-export for. Reflowing a whole paragraph is still beyond it - it is a typo fixer, not a layout tool.

Signing without a cloud round-trip

Draw or place a signature and save; the file never leaves the machine, which is the whole reason to use it for contracts. No certificate-based digital signatures yet.

Annotation basics are all there

Highlight, pen, notes - enough to mark up a draft and send it back. Stamps and shape tools are thinner than in the big-name editors.

Switching template doesn't cost you the content

The whole point: your details are data, the design is a skin, and swapping it takes a click. Templates are the 12 that ship - there is no custom layout editor.

Nothing uploaded, no watermark

Personal details stay on your Mac and the PDF comes out clean, which is more than most free CV builders manage. No account also means no cross-device sync.

A CV per application

Keeping a tailored version for each job is the workflow it is built around, not an afterthought. Cover letters aren't part of it.

Your notes stay files

Plain text in ordinary folders means no lock-in and no export ritual - any other editor can open them. Attachments live beside the note, so moving a folder moves everything.

Formats as you write

Typing / drops in headings, lists and code blocks without breaking flow. It is markdown underneath, so a stray character occasionally shows through mid-sentence.

Sync is your choice

Point it at a folder inside iCloud or Dropbox and it syncs itself. There is no built-in conflict resolution, so editing the same note on two machines at once is on you.

Instant because it is local

No spinner between clicking a card and reading it - the difference a native board makes over a web one. That also means no shared boards; this is for your own work.

Smart lists answer the real question

Due-today across every board is one click, which is the thing most boards make you assemble by hand. Filtering beyond due dates is limited.

Cards carry enough

Description, due date, checklist, comments and colour tags on one card, saved as you type. There are no attachments or recurring cards yet.
