MoodCup is a mood journal that asks one thing a day: how was it? Pick one of five moods, and the day is recorded. That is the whole ritual, and it is why this one lasts longer than the notebook did.
Every day you log becomes a coloured square in a full-year grid, so a year of feelings is something you can take in at a glance instead of scrolling back through entries. Nothing leaves your computer: no account, no sign-up, no sync.
Highlights
- One tap and today is logged - pick from five moods and the day is recorded. There is no save button, no form, and no second step to forget.
- A whole year on one screen - every day of the year as a coloured square, so a rough fortnight or a good run is something you see rather than something you have to remember.
- Change your mind whenever - tap a different mood and the day updates in place. Nothing is ever appended twice, and any note you wrote stays put.
- Fill in the days you missed - click any past square to log it, edit it, or clear it. The grid stays honest instead of quietly rewarding you for opening the app.
- Streaks that do not punish you unfairly - the current streak counts back from yesterday until the day is actually over, so a late evening does not wipe out five weeks.
- One optional line per day - a single sentence about why, if you want one. It shows up when you hover the square months later, which is when it is worth having.
- Your mix at a glance - how many days you logged, your average, and the share of each mood across the year.
- Everything stays on your computer - one small file, no account, no sync, no analytics. Export the whole journal to CSV any time and take it with you.

How it works
Open MoodCup and the first thing on screen is today, with five faces under it. Click the one that fits. The square for today fills in on the year grid below, your streak ticks up, and you are done - the app expects to be open for about three seconds.
If you want to say why, there is one line under the moods. Later on, hovering any square in the grid brings that day back: the mood, the date and whatever you wrote. Click a square to change it, and use the arrows beside the year to look back at previous ones.
Perfect for
- Anyone starting a mood habit - the whole interaction is one click a day, which is a habit that actually survives a bad week.
- People tracking sleep, therapy or medication changes - a year of coloured days makes a before-and-after obvious without any charting.
- Anyone who has abandoned a journalling app - there is nothing to write unless you feel like it.
- People who want their data to stay theirs - no account, no cloud, and a CSV export that opens in any spreadsheet.
