AirBudBrew

Bluetooth battery levels for your earbuds, mouse and keyboard

Updated August 2026 · v1.5.0

One-off purchase, yours to keep on one device. Or unlock the whole menu from $4.99/month.

Screenshots

AirBudBrew shows the battery level of every Bluetooth device paired with your Mac - wireless earbuds down to the left bud, right bud and the charging case, plus your mouse, keyboard, speaker and controller - in one small window and next to the clock.

macOS already knows these numbers; it just buries them under submenus. AirBudBrew reads the same system Bluetooth report, lays every device out as a card with its own colour, and keeps the list fresh while you work.

Highlights

  1. Per-cell battery - earbuds report left, right and case separately, each on its own bar, so you know which side dies first.
  2. Every paired device - mouse, keyboard, speaker, controller, phone. Connected ones sit on top, the rest stay listed below with signal strength.
  3. Menu bar readout - the lowest cell across your connected devices sits beside the clock, and the menu lists every device with its levels.
  4. Low battery alerts - one notification when a device drops below your threshold (10, 20 or 30%), and not another until it charges back up.
  5. Live refresh - rescans on your schedule (5 seconds to a minute) and instantly whenever you focus the window.
  6. Colour-coded at a glance - green above 40%, amber under it, red under 20%. One accent hue per device type.
  7. Open at login - one switch in Settings (⌘,) and it is there every morning.
  8. Nothing leaves your Mac - no account to read your battery, no telemetry, no network calls beyond the update check.

How it works

Open the app and it asks macOS for its Bluetooth report - the same data behind the system Bluetooth menu - then draws one card per device. No pairing step, no permission prompt, no setup: whatever your Mac is already connected to shows up.

Close the window and the app keeps running in the menu bar. Click the menu bar item to bring it back, or right-click for Show / Quit. Preferences (refresh interval, low battery alerts, open at login) live in Settings, ⌘,.

Perfect for

  1. Earbud users - see the case level before you leave the house, not after the buds cut out on the train.
  2. Calls all day - a glance at the menu bar tells you whether your headset survives the next meeting.
  3. Wireless desks - mouse and keyboard batteries in the same place, so neither one surprises you mid-task.
  4. Anyone with a drawer of accessories - speakers, controllers, spare buds: one list, charged or not.
