Fresh Brews: ChatCafe and TypePress Join the Menu
ChatCafe brings peer-to-peer LAN chat to Frappe and TypePress adds guided touch typing to Americano. Two more apps leave the Coming Soon board and join the 54-app menu.
ChatCafe: LAN Chat That Never Touches the Internet
ChatCafe is a peer-to-peer chat app that works entirely on your local network. Text your teammates, send files, and play built-in games. No server, no cloud account, no sign-up. Just open the app and anyone on the same LAN shows up.
This is the kind of app that makes the Frappe category what it is. Tools that connect you to other people and machines without routing everything through someone else's computer. You already own the network cable. You already paid for the router. ChatCafe lets you actually use them.
If you share an office, a co-working space, or just a home network with multiple devices, ChatCafe replaces whatever cobbled-together messaging setup you've been using. Drop a file to the person across the room without uploading it to a server in Virginia first.
TypePress: Touch Typing, Tracked
TypePress is a 10-finger typing trainer with guided lessons, live WPM and accuracy stats, and steady progress tracking. It joins Band9 in the Americano category, which is quietly becoming the skills section of the cafe.
Most people type every day and never get faster. TypePress breaks that plateau with structured drills that adapt to your weak spots. The live stats mean you can see exactly which key combinations slow you down. The progress tracking means you can prove to yourself that you're actually improving, session by session.
Americano now has five live apps covering typing, IELTS prep, dual-language reading, grammar proofing, and translation. That's a complete self-improvement toolkit, all included in one subscription.
The Menu Keeps Growing
With ChatCafe and TypePress live, getapps.cafe now serves 54 apps across seven categories. That's up from 52 last week. Three apps remain on the Coming Soon board: MailCafe (a native offline mail client), VectorStudio (SVG vector editing), and MokaStudio (desktop video editing).
Every new app that goes live raises the value of your subscription without raising the price. Solo Cup is still $9.99 a month. Family Roast is still $14.99 for up to five devices. Same two cups, bigger menu.
If you haven't started your free trial yet, now's a good time. Seven days, no credit card, full access to all 54 apps.
