Fresh Brews: Picacino and Mixpresso Are Coming to the Menu
Two new drinks are steeping at the café: Picacino for your photo library and Mixpresso for the music you own. Plus, one-time prices just landed on the menu.
Two new drinks are steeping at the café. Picacino joins Latte, our daily essentials row, and Mixpresso is headed to Frappe, the connectivity and data tools section. Both are still marked coming soon, but they say a lot about where the café is heading.
Picacino: the photo library that stays yours
Picacino is a photo manager in the spirit of Picasa, rebuilt as a native app. The pitch on the card is short: fast, offline, folder-based.
That last word is the whole point. Your photos stay in folders on your drive, organized the way you organize them, not locked inside someone's cloud library. You point Picacino at a folder, it builds its index, and you get the speed of a native app without uploading a single photo. No sync fees, no "storage full" upsell, no company deciding your library needs to look different.
For anyone who spent the 2000s in Picasa, the appeal is obvious: Google killed it in 2016 and left a decade of muscle memory behind. The folder-based model never stopped making sense. Picacino brings it back on modern macOS hardware.
Mixpresso: the music you actually own
Frappe gets Mixpresso, a player and organizer for the music you own. The one-liner says it plainly: play, tag, and organize the music you actually own.
Streaming has trained us to think of a library as a subscription. Cancel the subscription, and the library evaporates. Mixpresso goes the other direction: it indexes the files you already have, lets you tag them your way, and plays them without a network connection or a licensing server in the middle. Your collection, your metadata, your rules.
One-time prices are now on the menu
The homepage also grew a new section: Top Paid. CremaStudio, CreamShot X, BrewCAD, and ResumeRoast now show standalone prices alongside the subscription. You can grab one app outright, or take the whole bundle on Solo Cup or Family Roast.
That matches what we said in One-Time Purchase vs Subscription: some tools you want to buy once, others you want on tap. Now the choice is visible before you click.
Coming soon, coming soon
Picacino and Mixpresso join MokaStudio, VectorStudio, MapPoster, and MergeImages on the coming soon board. We'll pour them the moment they're ready.
Want the whole menu when it lands? Solo Cup is $9.99 a month, Family Roast covers five devices for $15.99, and both include every app we add later.
