Mixpresso

Mixpresso is a music player for the songs you actually own. Point it at the folders your music already lives in and it reads them where they are - nothing is copied into a hidden library, nothing is uploaded, and your files are left exactly as you filed them.

No account, no subscription, no listening history sent anywhere. If the internet is off, everything still plays.

1. Your folders stay your folders - Mixpresso links to the files on disk instead of importing copies. Rename a folder, move an album, tidy things up in Finder: the app follows along and keeps watching for changes, so new music shows up on its own.
2. Plays what you have - MP3, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, APE, OGG and M4A, from a 128kbps rip you have had since school to a lossless master. Gapless playback keeps a live album or a DJ set running without a hole between tracks.
3. Fix the tags that have always been wrong - a built-in editor reads and writes ID3v2 and Vorbis tags, so a misspelled artist or a missing year gets corrected in place, in the file itself. Album art can be pasted straight in.
4. Search without the accents - tone marks are slow to type and easy to get wrong, so the search folds them away on both sides and still matches.
5. Lyrics that follow along - time-synced lyrics scroll with the song, pulled automatically from a free open database. No key to paste, no account to make. A local .lrc file next to the track is used first if you have one.
6. Playlists that build themselves - describe what you want - released between 1990 and 1999, longer than four minutes, tagged mellow - and the list keeps itself current as your library grows. Ordinary drag-and-drop playlists are saved as plain .m3u files you can open anywhere else.
7. A 10-band equalizer and a waveform view - shape the sound with presets or by hand, and see the whole track laid out so you can jump to the drop, the solo or the quiet part without hunting.
8. Speaks your language - the interface ships in 15 languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Vietnamese.
9. Built to get out of the way - a dark, native macOS interface with the album art, the waveform and the controls where you expect them. Shrink the window down and it becomes a small player that sits in the corner while you work.

How it works

Open Mixpresso and point it at the folder your music is in - the whole thing, however deep it goes. It reads the tags, groups everything into albums, finds the cover art and gets out of your way. Large collections are handled without the beachball.

From there it is a player: hit a track to start, or drag a few into the queue. Add the folder to the watch list and anything you drop in there later turns up in the library on its own, no rescan to remember.
