CremaStudio

Adobe Photoshop alternative app for Mac & Windows

Most people use Photoshop to crop, retouch and export photos. CremaStudio does that on Mac and Windows with layers, masks and PSD support, in a 17 MB app with no Adobe subscription.

CremaStudio, an alternative to Adobe Photoshop

Most people open Photoshop to do a handful of things. Crop and straighten a photo, fix the colours, remove something that shouldn't be there, and export it for a website or a post. Adobe sells Photoshop on its own for $22.99 a month on an annual plan. Paid up front, it's $263.88 a year, every year, for those same few jobs.

CremaStudio is a layered image editor that covers that everyday part. It opens PSD files with their layers intact, develops camera RAW, and handles PNG, JPEG, WebP and TIFF too. Tools on the left, layers and adjustments on the right, your image in the middle.

Light, quick, and on Mac and Windows

  • A small download. CremaStudio for Mac is 17 MB. On Windows it's about 6.5 MB.
  • Opens like a desktop app should. It's a native app, so it starts fast and your image is right there. No browser tab, no cloud round-trip.
  • Same app on both systems. Mac, Windows, and Windows on ARM, with the same tools in the same places.

What you can do in it

  • Work in layers. Groups, masks, opacity and blend modes. Re-order, clip, merge or flatten when you're ready.
  • Adjust without losing anything. Curves, Levels, Hue/Saturation, Exposure and more sit on live adjustment layers you can change later.
  • Remove what you don't want. Content-aware fill and spot healing rebuild an area from the pixels around it.
  • Select precisely. Marquee, lasso, magic wand, quick selection and Color Range, with feather, expand and invert.
  • Add layer styles. Drop shadow, glow, overlays, bevel and stroke, all from one Blending Options panel.
  • Export where you need it. PNG, JPEG, WebP, TIFF or ORA, or keep a .pho project with every layer.

Who it's for

Photographers who develop RAW files and grade them with adjustment layers. Designers who get layered PSD handoffs and need to tweak and re-export them. Retouchers cleaning up skin or removing objects. And anyone making images for a website, a post or a slide deck who doesn't want a heavyweight install for it.

When to stick with Adobe Photoshop

If your work leans on generative AI tools, a library of actions and plugins, or print prep in CMYK, keep Photoshop. Same if you edit on an iPad as well, or your studio shares assets through Creative Cloud. CremaStudio is for everyday photo editing and retouching, not for replacing a full Adobe pipeline.

What it costs

CremaStudio isn't sold on its own. It comes with a getapps.cafe membership, from $1.99 a month on the annual plan, and that includes every other app on the menu too. Solo covers one device and Family covers five. There's a 7-day free trial, so you can open your own PSDs in it before paying anything.
